World Cup 2014

The 2014 FIFA World Cup will be the 20th FIFA World Cup, an international men's football tournament that is scheduled to take place in Brazil from 12 June to 13 July 2014.

It will be the second time that Brazil has hosted the competition, the previous being in1950. Brazil was elected unchallenged as host nation in 2007 after the international football federation, FIFA, decreed that the tournament would be staged in South America for the first time since 1978 in Argentina, and the fifth time overall.

The national teams of 31 countries advanced through qualification competitions that began in June 2011 to participate with the host nation Brazil in the final tournament.
A total of 64 matches are to be played in twelve cities across Brazil in either new or redeveloped stadiums, with the tournament beginning with a group stage. For the first time at a World Cup Finals, the matches will use goal-line technology

FULECO

Fuleco

According to FIFA, over than 1.7 million people took part in the controversial vote to choose the mascot´s name.

The other options were Zuzeco and Amijubi.

Fuleco comes from the Portuguese words "futebol" (football) and "ecologia" (ecology).

It seamlessly represents the way in which the FIFA World Cup can combine the two to encourage people to behave in an environmentally friendly way", said FIFA about the mascot.

Brazilofficially the Federal Republic of Brazil (PortugueseRepública Federativa do Brasil,  is the largest country in both South America and the Latin American region. It is the world's fifth largest country, both by geographical area and by population. It is the largest lusophone country in the world, and the only one in the Americas.
Bounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the east, Brazil has a coastline of 7,491 km (4,655 mi).

It is bordered on the north byVenezuelaGuyanaSuriname and the French overseas region of French Guiana; on the northwest by Colombia; on the west by Bolivia and Peru; on the southwest by Argentina and Paraguay and on the south by Uruguay. Numerous archipelagos form part of Brazilian territory, such as Fernando de NoronhaRocas AtollSaint Peter and Paul Rocks, and Trindade and Martim Vaz.

It borders all other South American countries  except Ecuador and Chile and occupies 47 percent of the continent of South America.

Brazil was inhabited by numerous tribal nations prior to the landing of explorer Pedro Álvares Cabral in 1500, who claimed the area for Portugal

Brazil remained a Portuguese colony until 1808, when the capital of the empire was transferred from Lisbon to Rio de Janeiro after French forces led by Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte invaded Portugal.

In 1815, it was elevated to the rank of kingdom upon the formation of the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarves. Its independence was achieved in 1822 with the creation of the Empire of Brazil, a unitary state governed under a constitutional monarchy and a parliamentary system.

The country became a presidential republic in 1889, when a military coup d'état proclaimed the Republic, although the bicameral legislature, now called Congress, dates back to the ratification of the first constitution in 1824. An authoritarianmilitary junta had led the nation from 1964 until 1985.

Brazil's current Constitution, formulated in 1988, defines it as a federal republic. The Federation is composed of the union of the Federal District, the 26 states, and the 5,564 municipalities.

A member of the BRIC group, Brazil has one of the world's fastest growing major economies, with its economic reforms giving the country new international recognition and influence.

Brazil has been the world's largestproducer of coffee for the last 150 years.

The national flag of Brazil (PortugueseBandeira do Brasil) is a blue disc depicting a starry sky spanned by a curved band inscribed with the national motto, within a yellow rhombus, on a green field. Brazil officially adopted this design for its national flag on November 19, 1889, replacing the flag of the second Empire of Brazil

The concept was the work of Raimundo Teixeira Mendes, with the collaboration of Miguel Lemos, Manuel Pereira Reis and Décio Villares.
The green field and the yellow rhombus from the previous imperial flag were preserved – the green and yellow colors representing the reigning House of Braganza and the house of the consort of the first emperor, Habsburg.

A blue circle with 27 white five-pointed stars replaced the arms of the Empire of Brazil. The stars, whose position in the flag reflect the sky over Rio de Janeiro on November 15, 1889, represent the union's federated units – each star representing a specific State, plus one for the Federal District.

The motto"Ordem e Progresso" ("Order and Progress") is inspired by Auguste Comte's motto of positivism"L’amour pour principe et l’ordre pour base; le progrès pour but" ("Love as a principle and order as the basis; progress as the goal").

Essa bola vai rolar
O mundo é um tapete verde

Quando a bola chega lá
Coração fica na rede, na rede, na rede
Ola, ola

[Chorus]
La la la la la (6x)
La!
I dare you

[Beat Break]
Leggo (4x)

[Verse 1]
Feel how the planet, become one
Beats like a drum to the same rhythm
Hear the whistle, kick the ball
The entire world soars like an eagle
In Rio we play, like we dance
Only today there's no tomorrow
Leave all behind, in this place
There's no space for fear or sorrow

[Pre-Chorus]
Is it true that you want it?
Then act like you mean it
With everyone watching
It's truth or dare, can you feel it?

[Beat Break]
Leggo (2x)

You have arrived, it's the place
No more doubts the time is coming
Feel how the planet, become one
Like a drum destiny's calling
German, Colombians, Spanish and French
Off the bench you gotta own it
Down here we play, like we dance
It's Brazil and now you know it

She is interested in world history and in the summer of 2007 attended a summer school class in Los Angeles, where she took courses in the History of Western Civilisation. Early Life and Career

Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll was born on February 2, 1977, in Barranquilla, Colombia. With a Lebanese father and Colombian mother, Shakira honors both her Latino and Arabic heritage in her music. She wrote her first song at the age of 8 and signed her first record deal at 13.
After her first two albums flopped, Shakira took the reins of her third album, becoming involved in every aspect of its production. Released in 1996, Pies Descalzos, meaning "bare feet," sold more than 3 million copies. The album featured her trademark sound, a blend of Latin, rock and Arabic musical styles. Her follow-up record, Dónde Están Los Ladrones? (1998), which translates as "Where are the thieves?", reached the top of Billboard's Latin charts. Not long after, Shakira won her first Grammy Award (best Latin popalbum) for Shakira: MTV Unplugged (2000).
With the success of her albums, Shakira became a music superstar in the Spanish-language markets, known for her strong vocals and incredible hip-shaking belly dance moves.
